ABOUT THE JOHN GUMMERY SKILLS TRAINING CENTRE

The Kimberley region is home to some of Australia’s most socially disadvantaged communities, with disproportionately high unemployment and severe lack of functional literacy and numeracy ability. The Skills Centre aims to deliver progressive assistance to enhance the employability of individuals.

Our Skills Centre provides a unique training service focused on industry-skills-integrated literacy and numeracy development to enable employment.

Development plans are individually tailored to participants' gaps and needs, and training is delivered in an engaging, culturally appropriate environment. The pace of learning is governed by participants' progression, with a flexible approach to timeframes.

Individuals will complete their Skills Centre development once pre-determined literacy, numeracy and industry skills goals are achieved.

It is expected that graduates will commence a traineeship/apprenticeship, enter mainstream employment or continue with further education. To keep up-to-date with the progress of the Skills Centre, watch this space or follow us on our Facebook page.

Kimberley Group Training would like to thank the Australian Government under its Regional Development Australia Fund and Lotterywest for their contribution.
